Welcome to Homeschool Co-Op
At First Christian Church
In Johnson City!
Our mission statement:
Homeschool Co-Op exists to support, encourage, and build up the local community of homeschooling families reaching out in the name of Jesus Christ.
We desire to be a resource center where members can find information, both practical and spiritual, to assist them in their commitment to homeschooling.
First Class Johnson City is a partnership between First Class Homeschool Ministries and First Christian Church. The purpose is to create a community of homeschooling families. This community is a place where families can share life together in the paths that they have chosen. FCJC provides two semesters of educational opportunities. They are in the Fall and Spring. Registration starts each semester off allowing the parents/children to select classes in different subject areas. Teachers offer classes in specific subject matter specialties and interest. After each Co-Op school day, the teachers and parents meet to discuss what was achieved and covered for that day. This provides accountability and teamwork.
Parents are hands down the most important influence of children's lives. A parent who homeschools has chosen to put the spiritual, educational, and physical needs of their child first. These parents sacrifice their own careers, interest, and wants. Many times, non home-educators do not understand the great sacrifices that homeschooling families make daily and are simply unaware to their unique needs. It is important to have a network. Home educators who do not have a network of support can become frustrated and lose hope. Home educators owe it to themselves and their children to find a Church a Christian community. Home educators owe it to themselves and their children to find a Co-Op a community of homeschoolers. These communities understand the unique challenges and joys that come with the homeschool lifestyle.
We are here to support and encourage homeschoolers to seek God first. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus: To help with special needs, to pray with and for each other in times of need, to encourage when those are ready to give up, to learn together and give advice, to have fun together during activities. FCJC is called to be such a blessing in the lives of the Homeschooling families.
You are invited to join our community of homeschooling families. We are looking for people with compassionate hearts to help us serve other homeschoolers. If you think this might be a place you'd like to serve, please send an email to Jesse and Sharis Myers today. We'd love to hear from you!
