Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is a "cooperative"?
A. A cooperative, or "co-op", is a collaborative organization that is jointly staffed by all of our members. At FC3, we count on all of our members to contribute their time, energy and talents by helping implement our programs, events and activities. The co-op has a Board of Directors who oversee the ministry and offer help and support where needed.

Q. Does my membership cover the entire family?

Yes-for the entire year, August to August. Members who join after January will have their dues prorated to the rest of the co-op year.

Q: Are parents required to teach at Friday School?
No, but they are required to stay on campus and will be assigned a "job" somewhere during class hours. Of course, we strongly encourage parents to teach... It's what makes Friday School able to offer so much!

Q: Does First Class have a statement of Faith?

Yes, please see the parent handbook. (You can download it from our site by clicking on the "Documets" tab.)

Q. What are the costs involved in Friday School?
Tuition: $3.00/class, supply fee may be added.

Q. When does Friday School operate?
Typically, 8-10 week sessions, October-November, and mid-February through early May

Q.How do I get in touch with a co-op coordinator?
See the contact sheet, parent handbook or our website. You will find specific categories to help you know who to direct your question/comment to. We always want to hear new ideas and appreciate you input!

Q.What should I do if I can't afford to participate?
First Class has limited funds set aside for scholarships. Please get in touch with our treasurer to obtain a scholarship application.

Q. I am interested in teaching. How do I get a Teacher Application?
You can get a teacher application right off our site. Please see the "Documents" tab above, print it off and mail it in!

Q. Will my child(ren) get into the classes they signed up for?

Because class space is limited, we offer first choice to the children of teachers and administrators. We can not guarantee every child will get into the class of their first choice. Every student must list three class choices per block of class. If the child's first choice is not available, they will be assigned their second choice and so on.

Q. What types of events and activities are available through First Class Cowlitz County?

A. Our activities and events are as varied as our members. It's all up to you! In the past, First Class families have enjoyed a wide range of classes and activiities ranging from Crafts to Foreign Language classes. What are you excited about teaching?
